PAIN MANAGEMENT SURGERY
Restoring Comfort. Improving Quality of Life.
At DFW Surgical Partners, our Pain Management program is dedicated to helping patients find lasting relief from chronic and acute pain using the latest minimally invasive, image-guided techniques. Our board-certified pain management specialists combine advanced medical technology with personalized treatment plans to reduce pain, restore function, and enhance overall quality of life.
We understand that every patient’s pain experience is unique. Whether caused by nerve damage, spine disorders, arthritis, or post-surgical complications, our goal is to target the source of pain rather than masking it — helping patients return to daily activities with confidence and comfort.
Common Pain Management Procedures
- Epidural Steroid Injections (Cervical, Thoracic, Lumbar) – Reduces inflammation and relieves nerve-related pain in the spine.
- Facet Joint Injections – Targets pain from arthritis or injury in the small joints of the spine.
- Medial Branch Blocks and Radiofrequency Ablation – Provides longer-term relief by interrupting nerve signals transmitting pain.
- Peripheral Nerve Blocks – Used for pain in the extremities caused by injury, neuropathy, or surgery.
- Spinal Cord Stimulator Implantation – Advanced therapy for chronic neuropathic pain using small electrical impulses to block pain signals.
- Peripheral Nerve Stimulator Implantation – A minimally invasive procedure to control localized chronic pain in specific areas such as the shoulder, knee, or foot.
Comprehensive, Compassionate Care
Our team prioritizes patient safety, comfort, and long-term outcomes. Procedures are performed in our fully accredited outpatient surgery center, allowing patients to receive advanced treatment in a convenient, cost-effective, and highly specialized setting.
At DFW Surgical Partners, we’re committed to helping patients take control of their pain and get back to living their lives — with less discomfort and greater mobility.
Neurostimulator Implant (Spinal Cord Stimulation)
We offer trial and permanent spinal cord stimulator (SCS) procedures using the Nevro device—an advanced system designed to help manage chronic nerve‑related pain without destructive surgery.
How SCS works
Thin leads deliver small electrical pulses to the spinal cord to modulate pain signals before they reach the brain.
About Nevro
Nevro’s system is designed to provide paresthesia‑free therapy options and programmable settings tailored to your pain pattern.
Common indications
Chronic neuropathic pain including back and leg pain, FBSS/post‑laminectomy syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS), and painful diabetic neuropathy (select cases).
Consider after conservative care
Typically offered when physical therapy, medications, and injections have not provided lasting relief.
Trial first
A short outpatient trial lets you experience therapy for ~5–7 days before deciding on permanent implant.
What to expect
1) Trial procedure
- Local anesthesia with light sedation for comfort.
- Thin leads are placed through a needle into the epidural space using X‑ray guidance.
- A small external battery is worn on a belt during the trial.
- We assess pain relief and improvement in activity and sleep.
2) Permanent implant
- Leads are secured and connected to a small implantable pulse generator (IPG) under the skin.
- Most implants are outpatient; typical total visit is a few hours.
- You receive a handheld remote/app to adjust programs within prescribed settings.
- Follow‑up is scheduled to optimize therapy.

Potential benefits
- Pain relief and improved function
- Adjustable, reversible therapy
- Outpatient procedures in most cases
Risks /considerations
- Infection, bleeding, or discomfort at the implant site
- Lead movement or device issues requiring reprogramming or revision
- Not everyone responds; the trial helps predict benefit
Aftercare
- Keep dressings dry; avoid heavy lifting for ~1–2 weeks (per surgeon).
- We’ll fine‑tune programs at follow‑ups.
- Carry your device card for airport/security screening.
